Pakistan stands in solidarity with Palestinians in face of Israeli aggression: FM Jilani

  • 2nd consignment of relief goods for people of Gaza dispatched from Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani on Tuesday telephoned his Palestinian counterpart Riyad Al Malki to assure that Palestinians aren’t alone in the face of Israeli aggression and that Pakistan stands in solidarity with them.

In a message on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, FM Jalil Abbas Jilani said, “I called HE Riyad Al Malki, FM of Palestine to offer condolences of people and govt of Pakistan.

The caretaker foreign minister assured Riyad Al Malki that Palestinians aren’t alone in the face of Israeli aggression and that Pakistan stands in solidarity with them.

FM Malki expressed gratitude for the humanitarian assistance.

Earlier in the day, Pakistan dispatched another consignment of relief goods for the under siege Palestinian brethren of Gaza.

It was the second aid consignment sent by Pakistan for the besieged people of Gaza since Israel started bombing the territory.

A month of Israeli airstrikes and artillery bombardment have killed more than 10,000 Palestinians, including 4,000 children, leading to severe shortages of food, fuel and medicines.

The second consignment of relief goods for the people of besieged Gaza was dispatched from Islamabad through a special flight.

Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani along with the Palestinian ambassador and other officials dispatched the aid consignment for Gaza from Islamabad.

On the occasion, the caretaker FM said that on special directives of the Prime Minister, the National Disaster Management Authority is sending the second consignment of humanitarian assistance to the Palestinians.

Talking to the media, caretaker FM said that aid includes 90 tonnes of humanitarian assistance including ration bags, medicines and hygiene kits. He said this is a token of love and solidarity on the part of Pakistan with the Palestinian brothers and sisters.

The foreign minister said the entire Pakistani nation is aggrieved over the massacre of Palestinians at the hands of Israeli forces.

He said it is the demand of Pakistan and other Islamic countries that an independent state of Palestine is established with Al-Quds Al Sharif as its capital.

Jalil Abbas Jilani reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm support for the Palestinians. He said Pakistan has always stood by the Palestinian people and will always stand by them. He said we will continue to express solidarity with the oppressed Palestinians in future as well.

The Foreign Minister underlined the urgency of bringing an immediate end to Israeli aggression and lifting of the siege of Gaza. He called for upholding the principles of justice and humanity and facilitation of the delivery of humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza.

In his remarks on the occasion, caretaker Minister for Human Rights George Khalil said Pakistan has always raised its voice against oppression and injustice. He said the world community should come forward for cessation of violence in Gaza.
