LAHORE/KARACHI: Six members of a same family were killed in a tragic car accident in Lahore’s Defence Phase 7 area while eight others died in two road crashes occurred in Faisalabad and Karachi.
According to Rescue 1122 and police, the ill-fated family was returning to their Shadab Colony home on Ferozepur Road in two cars when one of the cars rammed into the other near Defence Phase 7.
The victims were identified: as Muhammad Hussain, 22, Rukhsana, 52, Anyiba, 3, Huzafa, 4 months, Sajjad, 26, and Ayesha, 22.
According to Rescue 1122, the accident occurred in Defence-C area when three recklessly driven vehicles collided with one another.
As a result, at least six people including two children, two women and two men were severely injured. They were rushed to a nearby hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.
After the incident, the police team reached the scene and collected forensic evidence. Further investigation was underway, said police.
Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has expressed condolences over the deaths and sought a report from the authorities concerned.
In Faisalabad, five persons were killed and eight others sustained injuries on Sunday when a speeding bus, heading to Faisalabad from Lahore, crashed into a car at Darma Wala Morr in Khurrianwala, rescue sources said.
After getting hit by a bus, the car collided with a tractor-trolley parked nearby.
Those sitting inside the car died on the spot, while tractor trolley’s driver Abdul Qayyum died too.
The other deceased were identified as Waleed, Raza, Mateen and Manzoor.
Three passengers travelling in the bus received minor injuries while five were seriously injured. Rescue1122 personnel shifted the injured as well as the dead to Allied Hospital, Faisalabad, while the police reached site of the incident for investigation.
In another accident occurred in Karachi, three persons dead in collision between a bus and rickshaw near Hub Chowki on Sunday.
According to health and police officials, the accident occurred near Hub Chowki where a speeding bus collided with a rickshaw and motorcycle resulting in the death of three people including a woman and girl.
