CTD arrests Al Qaeda operative in Matiari encounter

MATIRARI: The Hyderabad Counter-Terrorism Department has arrested a terrorist of a proscribed terror organization, Al Qaeda, in Matiari on Monday.

According to details, in an alleged encounter between the CTD force and some terrorists near Matiari, the law personnel arrested one of the militants. He was identified as Abdullah Saghir.

However, two other terrorists escaped from the scene.

The CTD officials recovered a Kalashnikov and a hand grenade from the possession of the arrested militant.

“According to an initial investigation, it has been revealed that the captured terrorist visited several countries including Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, and Afghanistan to strengthen the network of Al Qaeda in these countries,” said the CTD spokesperson.

The spokesperson further informed that the militant was recently deported from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
