LAHORE: Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Usman Anwar on Tuesday announced a plan to categorise unregistered children of immigrants in the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) as illegal immigrants to the objective to make their deportation mandatory.
“The process of evacuation of illegal immigrants from all districts of the province should be accelerated through coordination with special branch, CTD, security agencies and intelligence based information”, IG Police Usman Anwar said while chairing an important held to review evacuation of illegal immigrants at Central Police Office here on Tuesday.
He instructed the field officers to accelerate the removal of all illegal immigrants, regardless of their official status.
During the meeting, IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar underscored the importance of respecting human rights during the evacuation, emphasising the need for a swift and successful operation.
Additional IG Special Branch Zulfiqar Hameed, Additional IG CTD Waseem Sial, all RPOs, CPOs, DPOs participated in the meeting through video link. Senior officers including Additional IG (Investigations) Muhammad Idrees Ahmad, DIG (Operations) Punjab Waqas Nazir, AIG (Operations) Dr Asad Ejaz Malhi, AIG Admin Amara Athar were also present.
Expressing frustration at the slow pace of deportations, the IGP expressed concerns that only around 300 individuals from Punjab had been deported so far, with the majority originating from South Punjab, specifically the Multan and DG Khan divisions.
During a video-link RPO conference, Dr Anwar urged enhanced coordination with special branch, CTD, security agencies, and intelligence sources to hasten the evacuation.
Emphasising peaceful evacuation, Anwar directed the removal of all illegal immigrants, listed or unlisted, and urged vigilance to prevent evasion attempts by individuals moving between districts. Unregistered children in NADRA records are now considered illegal resident citizens, and Anwar instructed all RPOs and DPOs to expedite the evacuation under their supervision.
Commending the effective performance of RPOs in Multan and DG Khan, Anwar stated that evacuation progress across Punjab is gradual but should be completed promptly.
Joint Measures For Axle Load Management
IG National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) Sultan Ali Khawaja visited Central Police Office where Punjab IG Police Dr Usman Anwar welcomed him. Both the officers jointly chaired an important meeting at the CPO, in which Additional IG National Highways Central Region Ali Ahmad Saber Kayani and CPO/DSP, Motorway, Mansoor Javed were also present.
On behalf of Punjab Police, along with IG Dr Usman Anwar, Additional IGP Rao Abdul Karim, Additional IG Traffic Mirza Faran Baig, DIG PHP Dr Athar Waheed, CTO Lahore Captain (r) Mustansar Feroze attended the meeting. During the meeting, it was agreed to further strengthen the working relationship between Punjab Police and National Highways and Motorway Police to secure the highways. Punjab Highway Patrol and National Highways Police decided to ensure joint measures for axle load management on all the highways of the province.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that both the organizations will take joint measures to prevent accidents on the roads due to heavy load traffic and effective implementation of laws. IG Punjab directed to make coordination between PHP, Motorway and Traffic Police stronger and more effective for axle load management.
