Two terrorists trained in Syria arrested from Karachi

KARACHI: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Karachi in a joint operation with intelligence agencies on Sunday apprehended two terrorists in district Southern who had received training in Syria.

The operation yielded the recovery of two pistols, ammunition, and explosive materials from the possession of the suspects.

According to CTD Karachi In-charge Khurram Waris, the detained suspects were identified as Syed Raza Ahmed Jaffri and Syed Khurram Ali Kazmi. Jaffri had previously served in the police but was dismissed from service in 1994.

He said that the detainees had completed terrorism training from Syria and reached Karachi where they were engaged in target killing and were also involved in rekey of important personalities.

Khurram Waris informed that some foreigners were also at hit-list of the nabbed culprits.

The terrorists had allegedly secured significant foreign funding to execute their terrorist activities. The suspects stand accused of carrying out targeted assassinations based on orders received from foreign masterminds.

The targets included prominent figures from different sects and religious scholars. They were also planning to target some foreign nationals.
