PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has identified 1,701 employees who, despite not working in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Secretariat, were receiving secretariat performance allowances, resulting in a loss of over 526 million rupees to the government treasury.
These employees, stationed in 76 offices across the province, consistently received the secretariat performance allowance from July to October. Among them, 21 individuals are from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police. In Peshawar, employees from the Frontier Constabulary (FC), Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU), the office of the Deputy Inspector General (DIG), and the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) were also found to be receiving the secretariat performance allowance.
According to a document from the KP Accountant General, employees from various cadres in the province were discovered to be ineligible for the secretariat performance allowance. In response to a complaint about the allowance, an investigation was launched, identifying 1,707 employees who were wrongly receiving the benefit. These employees will be required to repay 526 million rupees.
The document outlines specific departments where ineligible employees were found:
- 221 employees from the Police department
- 105 employees from the Commandant FC
- 35 employees from the Superintendent of Police Office
And others from various units within the police force.
Similarly, employees from other departments were also identified as ineligible recipients of the allowance:
- 182 employees from the Health Department
- 167 from the Peshawar District Administration
- 122 from the Provincial Construction Department
- 88 from Power and Electronics
- 54 from the Director General Monitoring
- 42 from Transport
- 42 from FATA Water Resources
- 40 from Fisheries
- 26 from Agriculture and Livestock
- 24 from Sustainable Development
- 23 from the Urban Policy Unit
- 20 from Oil and Gas Facilitation
