The Project Management System (PMS) application was introduced for marking the attendance of teachers in Sindh, and identifying ghost teachers. But it has become a nuisance for dedicated teachers. The app takes up more than half-an-hour every time one has to sign in or out. It also needs an internet connection which is a major challenge in rural areas of Sindh. The scenario actually facilitates ghost teachers by giving them an opportunity to hide their crime behind a weak system. In essence, the most appropriate way to monitor the attendance is to fix a biometric device in each school instead of wasting resources on faulty systems.
