ISLAMABAD: The government has officially declared December 25, 2023, a public holiday to commemorate the birthday of the nation’s founder, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. This coincides with Christmas Day, observed by the Christian community in Pakistan.
This announcement, issued by the Cabinet Division, reflects a double celebration on December 25th. Official ceremonies and events will be held throughout the country to honor Quaid-e-Azam Jinnah’s life, political struggle, and pivotal role in the creation of Pakistan. These observances are expected to include television and radio broadcasts focusing on his legacy, along with school processions, marches, and scouting rallies.
Meanwhile, the Christian community will celebrate Christmas alongside the national holiday. The iconic landmarks of Mazar Quaid, Quaid-e-Azam Museum, and Flagstaff House in Karachi will be illuminated in tribute to both occasions. This public holiday announcement follows the release of the official 2023 public holiday schedule by the Cabinet Division earlier this year.
