Wrong priorities

I recently noticed a signboard near the Justice Cornelius Underpass in Lahore, notifying commuters that beautification work was under progress. It was quite perplexing that a completely unnecessary project has been undertaken during these challenging times. While people are suffering from hunger, the government appears to be allocating resources to facilitate the elite. The funds earmarked for the project could surely have been better utilised in education and health sectors. But, it seems, that education and health are not the primary priorities of governments in Pakistan.
