KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has said that the idea of inclusivity for development and improvement can create a society where there is no room for any kind of discrimination according to Article 25 of our constitution.
Things will change with new and young minds coming in politics and government sector and the trend of bringing everyone together will grow, he said while addressing as chief guest the closing session of the first Ida Rieu Inclusive Parliament organized by the Ida Rieu Welfare Association. On this occasion, President of Ida Rieu Welfare Association, Nadira Panjwani, Secretary Department for Differently able Persons, Government of Sindh Taha Farooqui and others were also present.
Mr Wahab offered the institution to hold the next meeting of Youth Parliament in the council hall of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, we will provide all the facilities for the meeting, Mayor Karachi said that people with different abilities are valuable to the society. If such people participate in the policy formulation and decision making process in the government sector, especially at the local government level, then the problems in our society will start to be fixed automatically.
Participation in the youth parliament under Ida Rieu will awaken the desire among the youth to participate in central politics and public domain. I will invite the Ida Rieu Inclusive Youth Parliament to the KMC next year, he said, “Unfortunately, young people tendto avoid going to government sector until you work in government sector, how will you know what is policy making, how decisions are taken, what is politics and what is bureaucracy.
After serving the blind and hearing impaired people of the society for more than a century, Ida Rieu Welfare Association has taken the initiative to start a comprehensive Youth Parliament which will be a catalyst for social development and mutual unity and the Youth parliament will help them to unite, overcome barriers, eliminate discrimination and move forward with a common vision for the development of Pakistan.
