Sheikh Rashid vow not to relinquish rightful place in electoral arena

RAWALPINDI: Former Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad on Sunday expressed determination to contest his disqualification, asserting that despite his clear success, he will not relinquish his rightful place in the electoral arena.

In a video statement addressing the rejection of his nomination papers, Sheikh Rashid stated that he has been relentlessly pursuing a copy of the decision since yesterday to seek recourse from the Supreme Court. Undeterred, he pledged to continue the legal and constitutional battle for his political rights.

The former minister disclosed that he was informed yesterday about his disqualification on the grounds of not paying a meager sum of 942 rupees, supposedly for a stay in a Murree rest house 12 years ago.

Sheikh Rashid Ahmad dismissed the allegations as a “brazen and vile joke,” condemning the decision. He boldly declared, “If anyone can prove in 50 years that I resided in a rest house, I am ready to withdraw from politics.”

Participating in the elections from NA-56 and NA-57 under the banner of Qalam Dawat, Sheikh Rashid confidently asserted that the voters and supporters of PTI stand behind him. He predicted a historic victory, asserting that the PDM will have no escape route, and Kalamduat will emerge triumphant.

Highlighting the conspiracies against the nation, Sheikh Rashid remarked that those responsible for the financial, political, and economic downfall of the country might flee to London, but he and his supporters are committed to living and dying in Pakistan.

It is noteworthy that Sheikh Rashid’s nomination papers for NA-56 and NA-57 were rejected by the Election Commission yesterday, sparking a fierce resolve from the seasoned politician to uphold his political standing.
