Former foreign minister Sartaj Aziz passes away

ISLAMABAD: Former foreign minister and seasoned politician Sartaj Aziz passed away on Tuesday.

“He was a veteran of Pakistan movement and great asset for the nation. He will be missed very much,” wrote Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Ahsan Iqbal on his X handle.

Iqbal said that Aziz’s services to the nation will always be remembered.

“I had honour of working with him very closely and will never forget his affection and guidance. May Allah Bless his soul and Grant patience to the family Ameen,” he concluded.

Caretaker foreign minister Jalil Abbas Jilani, taking to X, said that he was deeply grieved to learn of the sad demise of Sartaj Aziz.

“A thorough gentleman, he was an iconic figure who served Pakistan selflessly and with exemplary dedication,” he added.

Jilani said that Aziz will always be remembered for his intellectual prowess, integrity, and kindness.

Meanwhile, Awami National Party (ANP) chief Asfand Yar Wali also expressed his condolence on the sad demise of Sartaj Aziz.

In his statement, Wali said that the news of the death of the former foreign minister caused immense sorrow and grief to him.

ANP chief said that Aziz played a significant role in Pakistani politics and represented the country on various platforms. “In this moment of sorrow, the Awami National Party shares in the grief. May Allah forgive the departed soul,” he added.
