Imran likely to move election tribunals against rejection of nominations tomorrow

LAHORE: The legal team of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has swiftly prepared appeals in response to the rejection of founder Imran Khan’s nomination papers for NA-122 Lahore and NA-89 Mianwali.

The appeals are likely to be filed on Wednesday in the election tribunal after Imran Khan signature in Adiala Jail.

The PTI legal team have prepared comprehensive appeals against rejection of nomination of the party’s founder for NA-122 in Lahore and NA-89 in Mianwali. Similarly, the nominations of PTI Vice-Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi and his son Zain Qureshi for NA-214 Thar Parker have also faced rejection.

In a parallel setback, the nomination papers of Zulfi Bukhari for NA-50 Islamabad were dismissed, prompting him to announce his intention to seek recourse through the High Court. His appeal aims to address concerns regarding the detention of lawyers, supporters, and proposers associated with the case.

Similarly, the Returning Officer (RO) for NA-15 Mansehra rejected PTI leader Azam Swati’s nomination papers in a contest against PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif while the nomination papers of Usman Dar’s mother and Umar Dar’s wife faced rejection in NA-71 Sialkot due to non-payment of social security dues and non-disclosure of assets.

Meanwhile, the nomination papers of GDA’s leaders – Fahmida Mirza, Zulfikar Mirza, and Hussam Mirza from NA-223 in Badin, Sindh, have been rejected.

PTI founder, Bushra Bibi’s interim bails extended n different cases

The District and Sessions Court Islamabad on Tuesday extended interim bails of PTI founder in six cases and his wife Bushra Bibi in one case till January 16.

Duty Judge Ahmad Arshad Mehmood conducted hearing of six cases against PTI founder and one case against Bushra Bibi. Bushra Bibi appeared before judge with her lawyers – Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry, Umair Niazi and Usman Gull.

The court allowed Bushra Bibi to leave the court after marking her attendance. During hearing the duty judge asked, “Who is the lawyer of complainant. Where is the investigation officer?”

No one appeared in the court from the prosecution side at which the court extended interim bails of PTI founder in six cases while Bushra Bibi was given extension in her interim bail in one case in bogus receipts case. The court deferred hearing of the case till January 16. The report regarding production of PTI founder in court could not be submitted.
