DI KHAN: At least two police officials were injured on Saturday when militants opened fire at Mughal Kot Police Station in the Darazinda area of Dera Ismail Khan district.

The police station is situated at the strategic junction of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The injured officers, identified as Alam and Ahsan, were promptly shifted to the hospital for immediate medical treatment.

Earlier, a convoy of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman was targeted in a brazen attack at the Yarik Interchange in DI Khan, party officials said.

The assailants opened fire on the convoy, aiming from two sides, according to preliminary information.

All individuals, including Maulana Fazlur Rehman, remained unharmed in the attack.

The JUI-F chief was reportedly passing through Dera Ismail Khan as part of his election campaign when the incident occurred.
