KP releases over Rs140.82mn to uplift local govts of tribal districts

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has released over Rs140.82mn to the local governments of the tribal districts which will be used for the salaries and other expenses of the elected representatives.

According to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Department, the funds have been released in three tranches. Two tranches have been released to the Tehsils Municipal Administrations (TMAs), and one tranche to the Village and Neighborhood Councils. 

The KP government has released an additional grant of Rs80.10mn  and a local council grant of Rs11.44 lakh to the TMAs of the tribal districts to meet their expenses. The TMAs include Khar, Nawagai, Waziristan, Darazenda, Jamrud, Landi Kotal, Bara, Upper Kurram, Lower Kurram, Central Kurram, Dara Adam Khel, Batini, Upper Mohmand, Lower Mohmand, Bizai, Miranshah, Mir Ali, Razmak, Upper Orakzai, Lower Orakzai, Hassan Khel, Jandola, Wana, Sarwakai, and Ladha.

Similarly, Rs50.68mn has been released to the 711 village and Neighborhood Councils of the tribal districts for the salaries and other expenditure of the elected representatives. Each VCs will receive Rs. 20,200 from this amount.
