LAHORE: The Punjab Police on Wednesday claimed to have foiled terrorists infiltration into the province and repulsed their attack on Jhangi check-post of Taunsa, Dera Ghazi Khan, a border area with Khyber Pakhtunkhawa.
In video message on Wednesday, Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Usman Anwar shared details of the foiled attack. He informed that police immediately responded to the infiltration attempt at Jhangi check-post and forced the terrorists to flee back. Dr Usman Anwar informed that 8-10 terrorists, belonged with the banned organization, took advantage of the darkness of the night attempted to enter and attack the Jhangi border-post of Vohawa police station in Taunsa Circle, Dera Ghazi Khan.
The police at the post responded diligently and thwarted the attempt, he added. The IG Police claimed that police teams were on high alert and performing their duty at the border posts of the province more diligently, which is evident from the respond to the infiltration attempt.
“Brave policemen deployed at Jhangi Police-Post spotted the terrorists with the help of advanced thermal image cameras. Police team took timely action and forced the terrorists to retreat with heavy firing”, the IG Police said in the message.
Meanwhile, another police team under the command of the SHO Vohawa Police reached the scene as backup immediately. Dr Usman Anwar said that police teams were on high alert day and night at all the border check posts of the province and were discharging duty with full commitment, saying morale of the jawans was very high.
He reiterated that the Punjab Police was fully prepared to eliminate the scourge terrorists who, he dubbed, the enemy of the lives and property of the citizens.
