- Maryam says his father did not remove Imran, he brought trouble upon himself
NANKANA SAHIB: Taking a jibe at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan for allegedly failing as prime minister despite tall claims, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supreme leader Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday stated that he is not a leader who forgets his promises and takes U-turns.
Addressing a rally in Nankana Sahib, he said that the country was progressing when he was prime minister but it was halted via a “conspiracy”.
“The motorway from Sukkur would have reached here by now, but our government was ousted through a conspiracy. People should think [before voting], who ended the 18-hour load-shedding? In whose era was sugar 50 rupees per kilo? Vegetables, lentils, flour, and gas were cheaper in whose era,” he questioned.
He credited PML-N for developing Gwadar Airport, bringing peace to Karachi, constructing motorways throughout the country and ran Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) buses in multiple cities but for such good work, he was handcuffed. “What crime had I committed? It was the crime of bringing prosperity [to the country,” he added.
He questioned, “In whose era was the price of roti increased from four to 20 rupees, sugar from 50 to 150, and the dollar rose from 104 to 275 rupees? Why did all this happen? I was not an imported prime minister; I was a local prime minister, and he [Imran Khan] was an unsuccessful one.”
Imran brought trouble upon himself: Maryam
Maryam Nawaz, Chief Organiser of PML-N, during her address, lashed out at Imran Khan without mentioning his name, saying that Nawaz Sharif did not remove him but rather he brought trouble upon himself.
“Nawaz Sharif did not oust you through deceit; there was no conspiracy against you. Instead, you have dug your own pit,” Maryam asserted.
She emphasized that PML-N’s struggle is not against any individual but against inflation. “Our battle is against expensive electricity, gas, sugar, flour, and bread. In every era, Nawaz Sharif provided relief to the people, so on February 8, vote for the PML-N in such numbers that Nawaz Sharif can rescue you from inflation and unemployment,” she added.
She stated, “Yes, Nawaz Sharif is a ladla (darling), but he is the people’s ladla. When Nawaz Sharif was not in the competition, then what popularity are we talking about? You used to say we are very popular after removing Nawaz Sharif from the competition. Now that Nawaz Sharif has returned, we will see who is truly popular.”
