The current emphasis on academic achievement overshadows the importance of physical activities for our children. While academic success is crucial, we must not ignore the benefits of exercise for physical and mental wellbeing. Physical activities contribute not only to physical fitness, but also foster important life skills, such as teamwork and resilience. Educators, parents and policymakers should re-evaluate our educational priorities and ensure a balance between academic excellence and sporting achievement. Let us prioritise the holistic development of our children by incorporating more physical activities into the curriculum, and providing opportunities for sports and recreation to the children.
