PAKPATTAN: Mian Hayat Manika, the son of former provincial minister Mian Atta Manika bid farewell to Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), and joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Sunday.
During a press conference, Mian Hayat Manika announced quitting the PML-N and joining the PTI, saying he made the decision on the aspirations of voters of his constituency.
He vowed to win the provincial assembly seat from Pakpattan and would present the victory as a gift to the PTI founder.
PTI ticket-holders Rao Umer Hashim, Rao Nassem Hashim, Mehr Mohuddin Chishti, district presidentRiaz Arshad Niazi, and other party workers were present at the press conference.
Before joining PTI, Mian Hayat Manika was contesting the general election 2024 as an independent candidate from Punjab Assembly constituency PP-193.
In 2018, he had contested elections as a PML-N candidate and lost the election battle to PTI’s candidate Mian Furrakh Manika in the constituency.
It must be noted that Mian Hayat Manika, is the son-in-law of Khawar Manika, the former husband Bushra Bibi.
Interestingly, Khawar Manika’s brothers – Ahmed Raza Manika and Farooq Ahmed Manika have been contesting the election on PML-N tickets from the said constituency.
Earlier, Atta Manika, the father of Hayat Manika sought ticket for his son from PML-N but the party granted tickets to the two brothers of Khawar Manika.
