Stray dogs that roam the streets of Karachi’s Gulistan-i-Jauhar area have made the lives of citizens miserable. Road accidents and traffic disruptions have become common in the area. Those responsible for running the affairs of Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) have clearly failed to deal with the rising population of stray dogs. Reportedly, about a hundred cases of dog bites are being recorded daily in the city. Besides, the shortage of rabies vaccines in hospitals is a persistent issue in Sindh. The authorities should develop a pragmatic policy and ensure the safety of the citizens.
