Pakistan dispatches fifth batch of relief goods to Gaza

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan dispatched on Sunday the fifth batch of relief supplies to the besieged Palestinian enclave of Gaza via a special Pakistan Air Force flight from Noor Khan Air Base.

The shipment contains warm tents, tarpaulins, blankets, surgical/medical supplies, dry food items, and hygiene kits as per the ground needs in Gaza.

A PAF C-130 will carry the aid to Al Arish, Egypt, where the Pakistani ambassador will receive the aid, after which the supplies will be sent towards their final destination.

Officers from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Ministry of External Affairs and armed forces attended the departure ceremony at Noor Khan Air Base.

Besides, a sixth batch of relief shipment has also been arranged by NDMA and is scheduled to depart from Karachi on February 6.

The batch will contain 100 tons of relief goods for the people of Gaza. Until now, a total of 230 tons of humanitarian aid have been sent by Pakistan to the suffering people of Gaza through five flights.

Pakistan stands firm with their Palestinian brothers and sisters in this phase of difficulty, with arrangements for more aid supplies underway.

The NDMA said it has dispatched 230 tons of relief items to the people of Palestine since Israel’s war on Gaza kicked off in October last year.

“More assistance is also planned, demonstrating Pakistan’s commitment to solidarity and seeking a peaceful resolution,” the NDMA said.

Pakistan, which does not have diplomatic ties with Israel, has condemned the killing of Palestinian people in Gaza and called for an immediate ceasefire.

Earlier on January 14, Pakistan dispatched the fourth batch of relief supplies to Gaza from Noor Khan Air Base.

The shipment contained about 20 tons of essential items including surgical/medical supplies, dry food items and hygiene kits.
