MUZAFFARABAD: Central leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and former minister for tourism and transport, Muhammad Tahir has said that his party stands with Kashmiri people and salute their struggle for freedom and right to self determination.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, he said that the fourth generation of Kashmiris was standing firm against the Indian atrocities and even today the oppressed Kashmiris were raising voice for their right. He said Pakistan will stand with the people of Kashmir until they get the right to self-determination.
Muhammad Tahir Khokhar said that India must stop gross violations of human rights in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and withdraw the unilateral and illegal actions of August 5, 2019. India must repeal oppressive laws, allow United Nations-sanctioned investigations into human rights violations, and implement relevant UN Security Council resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir, he added.
He said that the only, long-lasting and permanent solution to Kashmir dispute was a referendum in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations. The Kashmiri people were determined to continue their struggle to achieve the right of self-determination despite all the moves of India, an unsolved problem where India is responsible. The negligence of international community in this regard was equally responsible, he maintained.
The MQM leader said, “Continuous and unrelenting violations of human rights are going on in Indian Occupied Kashmir. After the abolition of Article 370 and 35A of the Indian Constitution, which gave special status to Occupied Kashmir on August 5, 2019, India is rapidly changing the proportion of the Muslim population in Kashmir.”
He said that the entire Hurriyat Conference leadership and freedom activists were put in jails, penitentiaries and house arrests in fake cases. Also pay homage to the eternal sacrifices of the Kashmiri brothers and sisters. India followed the policy of Hindutva in Kashmir. They were killing youths in the occupied area.
Tahir Khokhar said that the struggle of Kashmiris to achieve the right to self-determination was not under the influence or submission of anyone, but they were conducting their own struggle against the illegal military domination of India.
He said that violation of the basic human rights of the people of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir has become a stain on the forehead of the international community. We pay tribute to the people of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir for their steadfastness and countless sacrifices. We do not accept the usurpation of Kashmir by India. MQM will not leave the Kashmiri people alone and will stand with them till the end, till the independence of Kashmir, he concluded.
