Pakistani celebrities cast votes, urge fans to follow suit in general Elections 2024

ISLAMABAD: As Pakistanis across the country head to the polls for the 2024 General Elections, influential figures from the showbiz industry are leveraging their social media platforms to encourage voter turnout. From established veterans to rising stars, celebrities are urging their fans to exercise their right and choose the nation’s next leader.

Leading the charge is Humayun Saeed, who declared “Pakistan Zindabad!” on X (formerly Twitter), passionately calling on the public to “go and vote for a better Pakistan, vote for Pakistan.” Usman Khalid Butt echoed the sentiment on his X account, simply stating, “Today is a beautiful day, go out and vote.”

Hamza Ali Abbasi shared a picture on X confirming his vote, while Ayeza Khan took to Instagram, reminding followers to “get your polling station and
constituency information by messaging your ID card number to 8300” before casting their ballot.

Fatima Effendi, alongside her husband Arsalan, posted a selfie on Instagram, urging fans to “pay your dues” by voting. Sana Fakhar did the same, posing the question, “Which party will you vote for?” on her Instagram story.

Veteran actress Atiqa Odhu proudly declared her vote for PTI with a picture of her inked thumb, while Maryam Nafis shared a photo with her husband on X, accompanied by a Quranic verse emphasizing faith in Allah.

Adnan Malik, star of the popular drama “Sadeqe Tumre,” also documented his vote on Instagram, while Mawra Hussain, known for her work in both Pakistan and
India, posted a video expressing her excitement to participate in the elections.

With 17,816 candidates vying for seats in 855 national and provincial assembly constituencies, including prominent political figures, the stakes are high in this year’s elections. The Election Commission reports that over 128.5 million eligible voters, including 23.5 million new voters aged 25, will have the opportunity to shape the country’s future.

These celebrity voices serve as a powerful reminder of the significance of this democratic process. As the nation votes, their message urging participation resonates with millions, highlighting the importance of civic engagement in shaping a brighter future for Pakistan.
