PESHAWAR: More than 16 candidates from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have filed the pleas against the Feb 8 polls result in the court.
According to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), independent candidates have challenged the results of 3 national and 13 provincial constituencies in KP.
The results of NA-28 Peshawar, NA-11 Shangla, and NA-40 North Waziristan constituencies have also been challenged.
As per the report, the provincial capital, Peshawar, has become a focal point of contention, with challenges filed against the results of eight provincial constituencies – PK-20, PK-21, PK-73, PK-74, PK-75, PK-78, PK-79, PK-80, and PK-82, and.
Meanwhile, polls result of two constituencies in Bannu, PK-101 and PK-102 have also been challenged in the court as independent candidates rejected the polls result.
ECP stated that independent candidates have contested the results and submitted applications in the court for the annulment of results in these constituencies.
It is noteworthy that multiple candidates across the country have raised explicit allegations of rigging during the general elections scheduled for February 8 polls.
