Police pick up PTI-backed elected independent candidate from PP-165 Lahore

LAHORE: PTI-backed elected independent candidate from PP-165 Lahore, Ahmar Rashid Bhatti was arrested by the law enforcement authorities.

Bhatti’s father confirmed the development, saying that his son was apprehended by the Township police station and was sought after in various legal cases.

According to police reports, Bhatti is a named accused in the central case of May 9 violence. The arrest was made based on video evidence implicating Bhatti in an attack on Jinnah House (Corps Commander House, Lahore).

The police took swift action today, apprehending Bhatti and transferring him to the township police station. Concurrently, the political landscape in Punjab witnesses an influx of independent members pledging allegiance to the PML-N.

Six newly elected members of the Punjab Assembly have officially announced their decision to join the Pakistan Muslim-League (PML-N). Notable leaders such as Shehbaz Sharif, Rana Tanveer, and Khawaja Saad Rafiq graced the occasion as Sultan Bajwa, Hanif Patafi, Mahmood Qadir Khan, and Taimur Lali joined the ranks of the party.

Expressing unwavering confidence in Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif, the new members conveyed their congratulations to Shehbaz Sharif on his nomination as Prime Minister by party leader Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and allied parties.

Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation in overcoming Pakistan’s challenges, pledging to serve the people and adhere to Nawaz Sharif’s vision for the nation’s progress and economic stability.
