Jamaat-e-Islam central council declines Siraj-ul-Haq’s resignation

LAHORE: The Jamaat-e-Islami central council, in a meeting chaired by Deputy Amir Liaquat Baloch, firmly rejected the resignation tendered by Siraj-ul-Haq. The gathering, held at the Emergency Central Majlis Shura in Mansoora, echoed with resolute voices urging Haq to continue leading the party as

Amir, reinstating their trust in his leadership.

The committee members of the Majlis Shura, alongside prominent figures Liaquat Baloch, Ameerul Azim, Rashid Naseem, Professor Ibrahim, and Asadullah Bhutto, convened with Siraj-ul-Haq to convey their unwavering support. Jamaat-e-Islami spokesperson Qaiser Sharif affirmed the unanimous decision of the Central Majlis Shura, emphasizing their full confidence in Haq’s capabilities.

Sharif further disclosed that Siraj-ul-Haq would deliver a special address to the Central Majlis-e-Shura imminently, signaling his intent to fulfill his duties as Amir in accordance with the party’s constitution. The announcement comes in the wake of Haq’s resignation following the party’s setback in the general elections, wherein he publicly declared, “I resign as the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami.”

Anticipation mounts as the Secretary-General, Amir-ul-Azeem, schedules a Shura meeting on February 17 in Mansurah. The meeting aims to deliberate on the aftermath of Siraj-ul-Haq’s resignation, indicating a pivotal moment in the party’s trajectory as it navigates through this period of transition.
