PPP to constitute committee to probe Bilawal’s NA-127, Lahore defeat

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has decided to constitute a committee, consisting of senior party members, to probe not only the reasons for the defeat of its Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s from NA-127, Lahore in the general elections held on February 8 but also identify those who were responsible for.

Quoting its sources, the channel reported that the committee, which would be formed after the formation of the coalition government at Center, would conduct an investigation based on the reports submitted by party stalwarts like Sherry Rehman, Shehla Raza and Mukesh Chawla.

PPP Lahore chapter President Chaudhry Aslam Gill had suggested the formation of the committee, they revealed. It is worth-mentioning here that Gill has resigned over Bilawal’s defeat in NA-127 to the PML-N’s Attaullah Tarar on the party’s Central Executive Committee’s (CEC) demand.

According to unofficial results, Tarar had received 98,210 votes followed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-backed independent candidate Malik Zaheer Abbas Khokhar with 82,230 votes and Bilawal standing third with 15,005 votes.
