PTI withdraws case for specific seats after joining SIC

PESHAWAR: PTI has opted to retract the case filed for specific seats following its Ittehad with the Sunni Ittehad Council. PTI’s lawyer, Shah Faisal Advocate, confirmed that the party’s decision aligns with the newfound Ittehad, rendering the case obsolete.

The petition, scheduled for today’s hearing at the Peshawar High Court before Justices Ishtiaq Ibrahim and Atiq Shah, sought specific seats in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. PTI had initially approached the court in pursuit of securing these seats and integrating independent candidates into the party.

Emphasizing PTI’s stance, the petition underscored the party’s entitlement to specific seats, asserting that the Supreme Court holds the authority to delist parties, not the Election Commission. However, in light of the Ittehad with the Sunni Ittehad Council, PTI has opted to withdraw the case.

The Sunni Ittehad Council, meanwhile, has also petitioned the Election Commission for specific seats, further highlighting the evolving political landscape in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

This development comes as PTI solidifies its collaboration with independent candidates and seeks to bolster its position in the aftermath of the general elections.
