ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) at its parliamentary party meeting on Wednesday nominated Sardar Ayaz Sadiq for the slot of the National Assembly speaker.
PML-N leader Musadik Malik told a private TV channel that his party has nominated Sardar Ayaz Sadiq for the slot of the National Assembly speaker, adding that the PML-N parliamentary committee endorsed Sadiq’s nomination.
On the other hand, party leader Atta Tarar said the decision on the name of the deputy speaker will be taken after a discussion with the PPP.
According to PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif, the party has a strength of 104 members in the National Assembly.
At the joint parliamentary party meeting its supreme leader Nawaz Sharif formally nominated his brother, Shehbaz Sharif, as the party’s candidate for the position of prime minister on Wednesday.
The meeting, chaired by Nawaz , brought together 104 members, including Shehbaz Sharif. During the proceedings, Nawaz expressed confidence in Shehbaz’s leadership and announced the official nominations for the key positions.
Addressing the PML-N parliamentary meeting alongside brother Nawaz, the younger Sharif said all the MNAs-elect from his party contested the February 8 general election on their own. He also thanked the independents who recently joined the PML-N.
Shehbaz recalled the difficulties faced by the party in the past few years. He highlighted the PML-N’s achievements during Nawaz’s tenure citing the multiple motorway projects and the end to loadshedding in the country.
