Five-day rain related incidents claimed 35 lives in KP: PDMA Report

PESHAWAR: Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has said that 35 people died in five-day rain related incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The PDMA report issued on Monday said that besides death of 35 people, 43 others sustained injuries across province due to tragic incidents caused by torrential rains.

As many as 46 houses were demolished while 346 others were partially damaged due to heavy downpour in various districts of province.

Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has sought a report on the losses caused by rains and landslides.

Expressing his sorrow over the casualties in rain-related incidents in the province, the chief minister issued instructions to the administration to expedite relief efforts in the rain-affected areas.

The PDMA DG said that food and other relief items had been distributed in Malakand, Bajaur, Peshawar, Khyber, Swat, Bannu, Lower Dir and Charsadda.

CM Gandapur has directed the PDMA officials, district administration and Rescue 1122 to remain alert 24/7 in the rainy weather.
