Amid clamour for probe, PTI’s Jhagra alleges historic ‘seat sale’ in Peshawar polls

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Taimur Saleem Jhagra has levelled serious allegations of election rigging in Peshawar, asserting that seats were allegedly sold for millions.

Addressing the media on Tuesday, Jhagra lamented the lack of transparency, citing the failure to provide Form 45 by the election commission as evidence of foul play.

Expressing determination for justice rather than revenge, Jhagra announced plans to rally fellow party members to petition the Chief Minister for a judicial inquiry into the matter.

He underscored the significance of Form 45, stressing that its temporary upload by the Election Commission followed by deletion warrants a thorough investigation, with perpetrators held accountable through a judicial probe.

Furthermore, Jhagra hinted at forthcoming developments within the provincial cabinet, hinting at the inclusion of Ali Amin Gandapur and the PTI founder. However, he emphasized that if his electoral loss is legitimate, he relinquishes any claim to cabinet membership.

These allegations come in the wake of Jhagra’s prior correspondence with the Election Commission, where he highlighted discrepancies in the conduct of District Returning Officers (DRO) and Returning Officers (RO), alleging violations of electoral norms. The letter underscored the urgency of addressing rigging allegations, citing unprecedented irregularities that tarnished the electoral process.

Amidst mounting calls for transparency and accountability, voices of discontent continue to resonate, underscoring the need for swift and impartial investigation into the alleged electoral malpractice. As the political landscape in Peshawar remains embroiled in controversy, PTI’s demand for justice reverberates, signaling a pivotal moment in the quest for electoral integrity.
