RAWALPINDI: The security forces killed two terrorists in as many operations last night in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media affairs wing said on Thursday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations’ (ISPR) press release, a terrorist ringleader Shmrooz Sheenay was “sent to hell” in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted in Khyber district.

“In another operation conducted by the security forces in Dera Ismail Khan district, terrorist Mansoor was also successfully neutralized,” the ISPR said.

It said that weapons, ammunition, and explosives were also recovered from the slain terrorists, who remained “actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against security forces”.

It said that the terrorists were also involved in extortion and target killings of innocent civilians and were highly wanted by the law enforcement agencies (LEAs).

It added that a sanitisation operation was underway to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area.

“Locals of the area appreciated the operations and expressed their full support to eliminate the menace of terrorism,” it said.

Two traffic cops martyred in Lakki Marwat

Meanwhile, two traffic police personnel were martyred in firing by unidentified gunmen here on Thursday.

According to police, unidentified armed men, riding motorcycle, attacked traffic police officials with indiscriminate firing at Tank Mor of Dara Pezu Bazaar in Lakki Marwat.

As a result of firing, Hafizullah breathed his last on the spot while Constable Zaram Khan sustained critical injuries.

The assailants resorted to heavy aerial firing and managed to escape from the scene.

The body and injured were rushed to hospital where the injured traffic police cop also succumbed to his wounds. Bodies of both the cops were later shifted to DHQ Hospital for postmortem.

The police registered a case against unidentified attackers and started investigations into the incident.
