PPP plans to set up presidential guest house in Lahore

LAHORE: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has announced intentions to set up a presidential guest house in Lahore following the anticipated election of Asif Ali Zardari as President. This decision, as reported by media sources, aims to bolster the party’s presence in Punjab.

Once established, the presidential guest house will serve as a hub for PPP leaders and dignitaries, providing a venue for gatherings and meetings. It is expected that President Asif Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto will soon visit Lahore to meet with party leaders.

Sources within the party reveal that invitations will also be extended to party officials for dinner at Bilawal House Lahore. Discussions during these gatherings will include plans for organizational restructuring in Lahore and Punjab, particularly in light of former president Chaudhry Aslam Gul’s resignation from the party presidency. The party will embark on consultations for reorganization and the election of a new president following this development.

In recent events, Asif Ali Zardari assumed the office of President, marking his second term in the position. The swearing-in ceremony, held at the President’s House, saw Chief Justice of Pakistan administering the oath. Notable attendees included Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, and heads of the armed forces. The ceremony also welcomed ministers and ambassadors from various countries.

Asif Ali Zardari’s reelection to the presidency underscores his unique position as the only civilian to hold the office for a second term. Ahead of his oath-taking, the newly elected president received presidential protocol and security arrangements. The transfer of presidential belongings to the President’s House was overseen by Asif Zardari’s personal secretary, Rukhsana Bangash.
