ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has taken proactive measures to enhance convenience for citizens during Ramadan, ordering the extension of working hours for utility stores until 10 pm as part of the Ramadan package. The directive aims to provide greater accessibility to essential goods for citizens during the holy month.
Under the new arrangement, utility stores will remain open until 10 pm after Iftar, following orders issued to Zonal and General Managers for immediate implementation. Additionally, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif announced a daily iftar allowance of 500 rupees for utility store employees until Chand Raat, further enhancing support for those serving during Ramadan.
In a surprise visit to various utility stores in Islamabad, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif personally reviewed the distribution process of the Ramadan relief package and interacted with beneficiaries. He expressed his commitment to addressing any challenges faced by citizens in obtaining the Ramadan package, emphasizing the importance of ensuring smooth facilitation.
During his visit, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif highlighted the government’s comprehensive efforts to provide relief to deserving individuals during Ramadan, with a substantial package amounting to 12 billion rupees. Notably, the utility stores have established 1200 mobile points and 300 permanent relief centers to facilitate distribution.
Moreover, the government has implemented measures to alleviate the financial burden on citizens by reducing the price of ghee by Rs 100 at utility stores, along with a significant reduction of 30% in the rates of essential food items.
In issuing instructions to the management of utility stores, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of swiftly resolving citizen’s concerns and ensuring the provision of optimal facilities to prevent any inconvenience during Ramadan. This proactive approach reflects the government’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of citizens during the holy month.
