ISLAMABAD: The scrutiny of nomination papers in one National Assembly and four Provincial Assembly constituencies in Lahore has been completed.
After the completion of the scrutiny process, the Election Commission released the list of candidates for these constituencies in Lahore.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Hammad Azhar’s nomination papers were rejected from NA-119 and PP-164 constituencies, while the papers of 12 candidates, including Ali Pervez and Shehzad Farooq, were accepted.
Similarly, the nomination papers of Chaudhry Moonis Elahi from PP-158 were rejected, but the papers of 27 candidates, including Akhtar Hussain and Yusuf Ali, were approved.
Nineteen candidates, including Mohammad Khan Madani and Majid Zahoor from PP-147, and twenty candidates, including Shoaib Siddiqui and Ahsan Akram from PP-149, had their nomination papers approved.
Meanwhile, the Appellate Tribunal dismissed the appeal against the rejection of Khawaja Habibur Rehman’s nomination papers, upholding the decision of the Returning Officer. Khawaja Habib-ur-Rehman, a leader of the League, had filed an appeal against the rejection of his nomination papers for the Senate.
