IHC judge asks Bushra Bibi’s lawyer to file contempt plea against Adiala Jail admin

ISLAMABAD: Showing his strong displeasure over the failure of Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi superintendent to arrange the meeting of Bushra Bibi, wife of former prime minister and ex-PTI chairman Imran Khan, with her husband in the light of the court order, Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb on Monday asked Bushra’s lawyer to file a contempt of court plea in the case.

During the hearing of the petition, seeking implementation of the IHC order in which it had said that Bushra should be allowed to meet Imran, the court also summoned the advocate general, Islamabad.

The judge wondered how on earth the court’s order could be ignored. Justice Aurangzeb recalled that earlier the court had disposed of the petition with directions.

Usman Gul, Bushra’s lawyer, informed the judge that despite the court order, the two were not allowed to meet each other.

“And that is why we have submitted another petition, seeking my client’s meeting with her husband in the light of the court order,” he said.

The lawyer prayed to the court to order the jail administration to now arrange the meeting on Eidul Fitr, saying the administration had the authority to do so. Later, the court gave a break in the hearing until the arrival of the advocate general.
