Bilawal Bhutto walks out of NA in protest over speaker not allowing him to speak

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) under Chairman Bilawal Bhutto’s leadership staged a symbolic walkout during the National Assembly (NA) session in response to PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan’s critical remarks against President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday.

Barrister Gohar reportedly labeled President Zardari as an illegal and unconstitutional figure during the recent joint session of parliament.

Highlighting President Zardari’s non-participation in political activities, Barrister Gohar argued that as a symbol of national unity, the president should refrain from active political roles, especially while heading the Pakistan Peoples Party.

Expressing lack of confidence in the current president and prime minister, the PTI chairman asserted the cabinet’s lack of legitimacy, leading to an interruption during the president’s speech.

During the symbolic walkout, Bilawal Bhutto addressed the media in Parliament House, asserting the PPP’s democratic right to protest in parliament and communicate their stance to the Speaker.

He praised NA Speaker Ayaaz Sadiq for impartially managing parliamentary proceedings and strongly condemned a recent terrorist attack in Karachi, expressing condolences for the lives lost and confidence in bringing the perpetrators to justice.

Emphasizing hospitality towards foreign visitors, Bilawal highlighted the significance of Pakistan-Japan relations and extended prayers for the speedy recovery of those injured in the attack.
