Uxi highlights father’s legacy at UoG Book Week opener

GUJRAT: The University of Gujrat (UoG) celebrated the start of its Book Week with a special literary session, ‘Mumtaz Mufti through the lens of Uxi Mufti’, hosted by the Student Society Readers’ Club and Quaid-e-Azam Library, at its Hafiz Hayat Campus on Monday.

Esteemed writer and novelist Uxi Mufti was the guest of honour, sharing a profound insight into the life and works of the legendary Urdu writer Mumtaz Mufti.

Coordinated by Dr Rukhsana Riaz, the session welcomed distinguished guests Dean Faculty of Arts Prof. Dr Zahid Yousuf, Director Media Sheikh Abdul Rashid and Chief Librarian Dr Zaki-uz-Zaman.

Uxi Mufti’s tribute to his father captured the essence of Mumtaz Mufti’s fearless writing, which boldly exposed societal truths and later embraced spirituality.

Mumtaz Mufti’s literary legacy, characterized by simplicity and depth, continues to influence storytelling in Urdu literature. His unique blend of realism and psychological insight was celebrated, with Sheikh Abdul Rashid emphasizing literature’s role in deciphering life’s enigmas.

The event also highlighted the Readers’ Club’s mission to foster a love for literature among students, with Mumtaz Mufti’s towering presence in Pakistani literature being a source of inspiration.

In recognition of Uxi Mufti’s contributions, Prof. Dr Zahid Yousuf presented him with a commemorative shield from the university, marking a memorable chapter in the varsity’s literary journey.
