DI KHAN: Unknown attackers set ablaze hundreds of solved exam papers kept at a school in North Waziristan early on Tuesday, said police officials.
As per the details, around 10 to 15 unidentified individuals scaled the school’s wall, took the watchmen hostage and used incendiary material to set fire to the examination papers.
The examination papers retrieved from 23 examination centers of the Bannu Education Board.
The authorities report that the fire was ignited by the utilization of flammable substances.
Following the ignition of the storeroom, the culprits departed the location without obstruction. Nevertheless, law enforcement affirmed that the matriculation question papers, situated nearby, were promptly relocated to a secure location post-incident.
In December, unknown individuals set fire to school furniture worth millions of rupees at a girls’ school in the Bannu district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the police, armed individuals surreptitiously entered the Government Higher Secondary School Mambati in Miryan Tehsil of Bannu. They not only set fire to the furniture and other equipment but also stole solar panels and a pressure pump before fleeing successfully.
An official from the local police station described the gravity of the situation, stating, “Armed men entered the school and set fire to the science room in the girls’ higher secondary school, destroying furniture and laboratory equipment worth millions of rupees.” Furthermore, the perpetrators left threatening messages on the school’s main gate, claiming affiliation with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and warning the school’s owner to close it down, or face complete destruction in the future.
The intimidating messages sparked widespread fear among the students and their parents, as the school serves 350 girls and is considered the largest educational facility of its kind in the entire area.
