Heeramandi, a renowned Netflix series helmed by Bollywood’s esteemed director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, marks his debut in OTT direction with “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar.” The series boasts an impressive lineup of talent including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Richa Chadha, Fardeen Khan, Sharmin Segal, Shekhar Suman, and others. Recently, the Heeramandi team has been actively engaging in interviews across various social and media platforms.
In a recent clip from a live session with Lilly Singh during a Heeramandi screening in Los Angeles, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali revealed that he had once contemplated casting top Pakistani actors for the series conceived eighteen years ago. Discussing the casting process, Bhansali mentioned, “I had several options in mind over the eighteen-year journey. Initially considering Rekha Ji, Kareena, and Rani Mukerji for a film adaptation, I also pondered over Mahira Khan, Imran Abbas, and Fawad Khan before finalizing this ensemble cast.”
