DERA GHAZI KHAN: The Punjab Police personnel on Wednesday thwarted a major terrorists’ attack on a bordering checkpost in Dera Ghazi Khan and forced the group of terrorists to flee through a swift and effective response while seven police officials were injured in the fire exchange.
According to a police spokesperson, terrorists affiliated with a banned organisation attacked the Jhangi Police Checkpost, situated in the Wahova area of DG Khan. This was the second assault on the post in as many months.
The terrorists targeted the personnel stationed at the checkpoint with the aim of capturing them.
“About 20 terrorists armed with rocket-launchers, hand-grenades, laser light guns and other modern weapons launched the attack on the police’s Jhangi post”, the spokesperson informed.
The police jawans present on duty put up a stiff resistance, beating the terrorists back and foiled their attempt to infiltrate the border into Punjab.
