ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif issued directives for the establishment of the ‘Pakistan Skill Company,’ on Wednesday, aimed at enhancing employment prospects for Pakistani workers aspiring to seek opportunities abroad.
This decision was made during a comprehensive briefing focused on the National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTCC) and the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (MOPHRD).
In addition to this, the Prime Minister instructed the amalgamation of technical and vocational education on a national scale and underscored the immediate creation of the Pakistan Skill Development Fund.
Highlighting the pivotal role of NAVTCC in furnishing top-tier training to the country’s youth workforce, the Prime Minister underscored the significance of obtaining internationally recognized certifications in technical disciplines.
PM Shehbaz emphasized the necessity of fostering collaboration between federal entities and provincial bodies, advocating for a cohesive regulatory framework to elevate the competence of Pakistani manpower to global standards.
Furthermore, he called for the implementation of technical and vocational training strategies aligned with international benchmarks, emphasizing the pivotal role of merit and transparency in the appointment of community welfare attachés at Pakistani embassies. Additionally, he mandated the formation of a committee to drive reforms within NAVTTC and MOPHRD.
It was revealed during the meeting that, following these reforms, NAVTTC aims to provide technical training to sixty thousand individuals within the current year, with plans to extend this initiative to a total of six hundred thousand people over the next three years.
Discussions also ensued regarding initiatives to support the youth of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, including the allocation of quotas at the federal level and the imminent launch of a specialized training program scheduled to commence in June of this year.
Earlier, on May 5th, a tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Ministry of Federal Education, Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, and NAVTTC, paving the way for the establishment of a new training center in Islamabad.
Federal Minister for Petroleum, Musadik Masood Malik, highlighted the Prime Minister’s plan aimed at providing employment opportunities for young individuals upon completion of their degrees.
