Teenage girl burnt to death by father, brothers

RAHIM YAR KHAN: A tragic incident unfolded when a man, reportedly aided by his sons, set his 17-year-old daughter ablaze. The motive behind this heinous act stemmed from the girl’s refusal to marry a man chosen by her father.

Authorities thwarted an attempt to hastily bury the victim, prompting them to transfer her remains to a hospital for a thorough post-mortem examination. Subsequently, a case was registered by the police.

Initial information reached law enforcement suggesting clandestine burial activities involving a girl identified as Maimoona Bibi at the Miani graveyard. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the deceased, who had expressed a desire to wed a young man named Naseeb, had previously fled her home. However, she returned following mediation by local figures.

Despite efforts to coerce her into marrying Muhammad Asif, the victim stood firm in her refusal. Consequently, her father, Ata Muhammad, along with Asif, Arshad, Amjad, and accomplices, subjected her to physical assault before ultimately resorting to the fatal act of setting her alight.

Authorities have since initiated legal proceedings against the accused individuals and are actively pursuing investigations into this tragic event.
