Over 200 million Indian-Muslims live in fear over lack of safety: Dr Asif Mehmood

US based Pakistani origin Doctor and newly appointed member of United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) made his first statement in his new role, stating that over 200 million Indian-Muslims live in precarious circumstances as they fear for their safety.

He added that over 3 million Rohingiya Muslims were living in camps in dire conditions.

Dr. Asif Mahmood, originally hailing from Kharian in Pakistan, has been a resident of California for many years. A pulmonologist by profession, Dr. Mahmood has also been actively involved in American politics. He ran for Congress from California on the Democratic Party ticket, although he did not win the election.

His political engagement and advocacy for human rights have earned him recognition and respect within the political arena.
