Burnout among medical residents is a pressing issue. According to a report, almost one-third of medical trainees face burnout. This concern leads to a feeling of physical and emotional exhaustion. Some residents also experience insomnia, gastrointestinal problems, and mental health issues like depression and anxiety. If left unchecked, this problem may compromise the health of both medical trainees and patients. Therefore, it is imperative that medical institutions prioritise residents’ wellbeing through flexible scheduling, sufficient human resources, and supportive measures, such as recreational programmes to mitigate the effects of burnout so that a sustainable environment for the medical workforce can be fostered.
