PM reiterates commitment to One China Policy

  • Says Pakistan always extended its principled support to Chinese position on Taiwan
  • Expresses heartfelt grief and sorrow over demise of veteran artist Talat Hussain

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday reaffirmed Pakistan support for the Chinese stance on Taiwan, reiterating its commitment to the One China, policy.

As an iron-brother and a strategic partner of China, Pakistan has always extended its principled support to the Chinese position on Taiwan and will continue to do so, the prime minister wrote on his official X timeline.

He said the so-called elections or transition of the self-proclaimed government in Taiwan did not change the objective facts on the Taiwan issue.

Pakistan adheres to ‘One China’ policy, regards Taiwan as an inalienable part of the People’s Republic of China and supports the Chinese government’s efforts for national reunification, the prime minister added.

PM expresses grief over death of veteran artist Talat Hussain

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday expressed his heartfelt grief and sorrow over the demise of Talat Hussain, a veteran film, TV and radio artist.

In a message, the prime minister prayed to Allah Almighty to elevate the ranks of the departed soul in paradise and grant courage to the bereaved family members to bear this loss with equanimity.

He said Talat Hussain was a legendary actor whose dialogue delivery was well-known to an era.

The prime minister said Talat Hussain lively acting skills won the hearts of drama and films fans worldwide. His contributions for Pakistan theater, film, TV and radio will always be remembered, the prime minister said adding that the gap created with his death could never be filled.

May Allah grant the deceased a high rank in Jannatul Firdaus, he prayed.
