RAWALPINDI: According to a statement by the military’s media wing on Monday, the Pakistan Army captain and soldier who were martyred during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Hassan Khel area of Peshawar have been laid to rest with full military honors in their native areas.
The statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) noted that during the intense exchange of fire, Captain Hussain Jahangir Shaheed – aged 25, a resident of Rahim Yar Khan district, and soldier Shafiqullah Shaheed aged 26, a resident of Karak district– made the ultimate sacrifice.
The funeral prayers for the martyrs were attended by senior military officers, the martyrs’ families, and a large number of local residents.
“Our sacrifices further strengthen our resolve.” the military officials said.
In a message, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the security forces for their successful operation against terrorists in Peshawar offering heartfelt condolences to their families.
Paying tribute to the martyrs, PM Shehbaz said: “We salute them for their bravery. The entire nation is proud of its brave forces.”
Earlier on May 13, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir said that the nation owes its independence and security to the sacrifices of martyrs during an investiture ceremony held at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
Paying rich tribute to martyrs and war heroes, the COAS said, “There is nothing more noble than laying one’s life for the defense of motherland and the sacrifices of our martyrs strengthen our resolve to fight with utmost dedication and spirit of sacrifice”.
The Pakistan Armed Forces remain steadfast in their commitment to eradicating terrorism from the motherland, no matter the cost.
