Two police officers martyred in Rahim Yar Khan shootout

RAHIM YAR KHAN: In a tragic incident on Saturday, two police officers were martyred and another was injured when robbers fired on their mobile van in Rahim Yar Khan.

The incident occurred as police responded to a robbery in progress by a five-member gang at a tent shop in the Khan Bela area. Upon noticing the police, the robbers opened fire, resulting in the deaths of Constable Shafique Ahmed and Zeeshan Khurram. Officer Muhammad Ishaq sustained bullet injuries.

Following the shootout, the robbers managed to escape. Authorities immediately transported the deceased and injured officer to a local hospital for medico-legal procedures.

A substantial police force has cordoned off the area and initiated a search operation to apprehend the suspects.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has expressed her condolences for the fallen officers and instructed that all necessary medical care be provided to the injured officer.
