Taskeen Zafar, voice of Radio Pakistan, passes away at 67

ISLAMABAD: Taskeen Zafar, the legendary Urdu newscaster of Radio Pakistan, passed away after a brief illness in Rawalpindi at the age of 67.

Her funeral prayers, Namaz-e-Janaza, will be held at 4:30 PM today at Eidgah, Lalkurti in Rawalpindi.

Born in 1957 in Rawalpindi, Zafar’s distinguished career in broadcasting spanned more than four decades. She started as an announcer at Radio Pakistan in 1980 and became a prominent voice on the News and Current Affairs Channel. Beyond radio, she was also a familiar face on Pakistan Television, where she read news and hosted music programs.

In recognition of her contributions to Pakistani media, Taskeen Zafar was honored with the Presidential Pride of Performance award last year.

Her eloquent voice and distinctive style left an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of listeners across the nation.
