Iran, KP explore new trade opportunities

PESHAWAR:  Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Pakistan Dr. Reza Amiri Moghadam on Friday visited the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment and Trade (KP-Bo IT) in Peshawar.

During his visit, he participated in the KP-Iran Investment Dialogue, a meeting aimed at discussing potential business opportunities and cultural ties between the two regions.

The session was well-attended by representatives from various sectors including the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KPEZDMC), Small Industries Development Board (SIDB), and multiple business associations.

These included the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), All Pakistan Commercial Exporters Association (APCEA), and groups from the honey, furniture, gems, jewelry, livestock, and tourism sectors.

A highlight of the visit was the presentation by Iqbal Sarwar, Director of Business Facilitation at KP-Bo IT, who outlined the vision and mission of the board. Shahid Shinwari, a board member, extended an invitation to the Iranian business community to participate in the upcoming International Investment & Trade Expo in Islamabad this September.

Discussions during the meeting focused on strengthening economic ties, enhancing trade, and exploring investment opportunities. Both sides expressed a keen interest in deepening their partnership and exploring new avenues for cooperation.

Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, Secretary of Industries and CEO of KP-Bo IT, emphasized the historic, cultural, and trade relationships between Iran and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He suggested that issues in trade could be addressed at both national and regional levels to promote economic growth and prosperity.

The dialogue concluded with KP-Bo IT officials extending their condolences for the recent loss of the Iranian President, Foreign Minister, and other officials in a helicopter crash. The visit by the Iranian Ambassador was marked by the presentation of a traditional Khyber Pakhtunkhwa pagri and souvenir, symbolizing the warm relations and mutual respect between the two sides.
